When do you guys do your training tosses?
I’ve been doing early morning but someone said afternoon is better because that’s when races release.
Does it matter?
Morning is traditional and has advantages:
- Cooler temperatures
- Less traffic
- Birds are fresh and hungry
That said, afternoon training gets them used to flying in warmer conditions and with the sun in different positions.
I do both - mostly morning but occasional afternoon tosses to vary it.
Race liberations are usually morning anyway (8-10am typically), so morning training simulates race conditions.
The main thing is consistency. Pick a time and stick with it. Birds thrive on routine.
