Need to vent. Our club seems more focused on politics and drama than actual racing.
Committee meetings turn into arguments. Rule changes every year. Some members get favors.
Anyone else deal with this? How do you stay focused on the birds?
Every club has politics. It’s the nature of any organization.
My approach:
- Focus on the racing, not the drama
- Vote with my feet if it’s really bad (join another club)
- Remember why I’m there - the birds, not the people
Some clubs are worse than others. If yours is unbearable, look for alternatives in your area.
Been in this sport 50 years. Club politics never change.
Best advice: don’t get involved in the drama. Show up, race your birds, go home.
The birds don’t care about who’s on the committee. Neither should you.
Or… get involved and change things.
Clubs need good people on committees. If you don’t like how it’s run, run for a position and fix it.
Complaining without acting doesn’t help. Just saying.
