One of my hens makes a coughing or sneezing sound every few minutes. Started yesterday.
No discharge visible. Eating fine. Should I isolate her?
Isolate as a precaution. If it’s respiratory infection, you don’t want it spreading.
Watch for:
- Discharge from nose or eyes
- Wet rattling sounds
- Going off feed
- Fluffed up appearance
Could be something minor like dust irritation, or early respiratory infection. If symptoms worsen or more birds start, treat the whole loft.
Update: finished the full Doxy course. All birds clear now, eyes looking good.
