ETS antenna placement - getting poor reads

Having issues with my Unikon system. Getting maybe 60-70% read rate when birds come in.

Antenna is mounted under the landing board, about 6 inches from where birds land. Tried adjusting sensitivity but either get missed reads or ghost reads.

Anyone dealt with this? Starting to think the antenna might be faulty.

Few things to check before you blame the antenna:

  1. Metal interference - any metal within 12 inches of the antenna? Even screws can cause issues
  2. Ring position - are your rings on the correct leg and sitting properly?
  3. Cable condition - any kinks or damage?

6 inches might actually be too close. Try 8-10 inches. The read zone has a sweet spot.

What’s your landing board made of?

Had the exact same issue. Removed the metal strip and went from 65% to 98% reads overnight.

Use sandpaper strips instead for grip if you need it.
