Woke up to solid ice in all my drinkers. Forgot to bring them in last night and it dropped to 15F.
What do you guys use to prevent freezing? Heated bases worth it?
Heated bases are a game changer. I use the ones made for chicken waterers. Work perfectly for pigeon drinkers too.
Cost about $30-40 but saves you from breaking ice every morning all winter.
I just use two sets of drinkers. Swap them out morning and evening. Bring the frozen ones inside to thaw.
Low tech but works and no electricity needed in the loft.
