Our club does a 300-mile young bird race at end of season. Seems far to me.

Conservative view: max 150-200 miles for young birds
Aggressive view: properly conditioned YBs can handle 300+
I stay under 250 miles for young birds. The 300-mile races produce heavy losses in most years.
They have their whole lives to race distance. Why push them hard as babies?
