Keeping records - paper or digital?

How do you keep your breeding and racing records?

I’ve been using notebooks for years but thinking about going digital. Spreadsheets? Dedicated software? Apps?

What works best for you?

I switched to spreadsheets (Google Sheets) five years ago. Never looked back.

Advantages:

  • Searchable
  • Automatic calculations
  • Accessible anywhere
  • Easy to backup
  • Can share with others

I have sheets for: breeding records, race results, health treatments, band inventory.

Takes time to set up but worth it long-term.

There are dedicated pigeon software programs - WinSpeed, Pigeon Planner, etc.

They’re designed specifically for our needs but cost money and have learning curves.

For most hobbyists, spreadsheets are fine. The software is nice for large operations tracking hundreds of birds.
