Looking for Janssen birds - where to buy?

Hi everyone

I’m looking to add some Janssen blood to my loft. Preferably Arendonk 019 line if possible but open to other Janssen strains.

Located in Denmark but willing to import from anywhere in Europe.

Budget is around €500-800 for a proven pair or 3-4 young birds.

Anyone have recommendations on reputable breeders? Want to avoid the fake pedigree sellers.

Thanks!
Nick

Be very careful with “Janssen” birds. It’s probably the most faked pedigree in the sport. Everyone claims to have direct Janssen.

For authentic birds, stick to:

  • PIPA auctions (verified pedigrees)
  • Established lofts with documented history
  • Reference from someone you trust who has bought from them

In your budget range, you’re looking at birds that are 3-4 generations removed from foundation stock. Which is fine - they can still be excellent. Just don’t expect direct sons/daughters.

I might know someone in Belgium with good 019 descendants. Let me check and I’ll PM you.

PIPA is your safest bet for verified pedigrees. Their yearling sales have good birds in your budget.

Alternatively, look for dispersal sales from retiring fanciers. Often better value than commercial breeders and you can trace the lineage.

Good luck! And yes, lots of fake Janssen out there. If the price seems too good to be true, it is.
