Mixing sprint and distance bloodlines?

I have sprint birds and distance birds. What happens if I cross them?

Middle distance specialists? Or birds that are mediocre at everything?

Results vary. You might get:

  • True middle distance birds
  • Birds that excel at neither
  • Occasional throwback to one side or the other

Generally, crossing extreme types produces unpredictable offspring. Better to breed within type and select the best.

But experiments can yield surprises. Just don’t bet your whole program on it.
