Odd colored droppings - orange?

One of my birds has orange/rust colored droppings. Never seen this color before.

Not red like blood, more orange-brown. Bird seems fine otherwise.

Any ideas what causes this?

Orange droppings can be:

  1. Diet-related - red/orange colored feeds (certain maize, carrots, paprika)
  2. Bile pigment changes - liver processing
  3. Some supplements cause this
  4. Blood that’s been digested (darker than fresh blood)

If bird is eating, active, and otherwise normal, probably diet related.

If accompanied by lethargy or weight loss - get a fecal exam. Could indicate liver issues.

Any new feed or supplements recently?

I had this when I switched to a feed mix with more red maize. Freaked me out at first but completely harmless.
