How do you calculate inbreeding coefficient? I want to track how tight my line breeding is getting.
Is there software for this or do people do it manually?
There are online calculators and pedigree software that compute it automatically.
Manual calculation is possible but tedious. You trace common ancestors and calculate percentage using Wright’s formula.
Pigeon Planner software does it. Some online pedigree databases too.
General guideline: under 10% is mild, 10-25% is moderate, over 25% is tight inbreeding.
