Bird caught its foot and lost a toenail completely. Bled quite a bit initially but stopped now.
Will it grow back? Anything I need to do?
Toenails usually grow back, though it takes weeks and may look slightly different.
Immediate care:
- Keep the area clean
- Apply antiseptic
- Clean bedding to prevent infection
- Monitor for swelling or discharge
Should heal fine on its own. If the toe itself becomes infected (swelling, heat, pus), then you need antibiotics.
