Vent area indicates:
- Fat level: puffy vent = overweight
- Hen readiness: soft, moist vent = close to laying
- Health: irritated or soiled vent = digestive issues
In racing condition, vent should be tight and dry. For breeding hens, you’re checking where she is in her cycle.
